Strong Lineup of Performers Announced for 26th Annual George Street Festival
The Biggest Little Street in North America Comes Alive For Six Days of Musical Entertainment
St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador (July 7, 2010) – The George Street Association has released the final line-up of artists to perform at the 26th Annual George Street Festival, July 29-August 3, 2010. Opening the Festival will be Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace, who will take to the stage in Prince Edward Plaza on Opening Night, Thursday, July 29th. Nightly performances will feature artists and bands that appeal to a wide variety of genres and tastes; from local favourites Buddy Wasisname & The Other Fellers to rock legends and hall of famers April Wine to one of the premiere bands in Canadian rock history, Blue Rodeo. Complementing its list of rock and roll bands will be a night dedicated to country and western fans, featuring Newfoundlander Tara Oram and the Juno award winning Charlie Major. As tradition dictates, on Regatta Day Eve will be the George Street Kitchen Party featuring headline act, Celtic Connection.
“We have undoubtedly raised the bar on the collective level of entertainment to ever perform at a George Street Festival”, commented GSA Executive Director, Seamus O’Keefe. “Having an extremely positive experience with the Juno Awards and responding to the wishes of George Street patrons, along with support from Festival sponsors Bud Light, Lamb’s Rum, NTV, Delta St. John’s, The Current, and Diageo (Smirnoff Ice and Strongbow) has enabled us to put together a line-up second to none during the popular St. John’s Time”.
