Mardi Gras Celebration

Description:

Dress up, lose your inhibitions and party with your friends, colleagues and family amongst some great costumes seen anywhere during Halloween. Mardi Gras is an annual tradition on the "Biggest Little Street in North America" and has historically been a very popular event for residents of the City of St. John’s, many of whom participate in the Bud Light costume Boo-nanza.

In 2012, thousands of ghosts, goblins and witches will dress up in their best Halloween costumes on Saturday, October 27th to compete for $10,000 in cash prizes at the Bud Light Boo-nanza!

1st Place   $5,000
2nd Place  $3,500
3rd Place   $1,500

Judging starts at 9:30pm and will occur on George Street in front of DUSK Ultra Club (directly across from O'Reilly's Irish Newfoundland Pub).

Three celebrity judges will score each contestant, from 1-100, based on the following criteria:
20%  Originality
20%  Creativity
10%  Differentiation
10%  Detail
10%  Presentation
10%  Effort
20%  Overall Impression / WOW factor

At 10:45, the top 5 costumes that score the highest will be invited on stage for final crowd judging - most applause wins!

Tickets can also be purchased at the gate on Saturday night.

The George Street Association would like to thank our sponsors, who without, Mardis Gras would not be possible - Bud Light, Oz Fm, NTV, Lamb's Rum, Rogers, Red Bull and the Delta St. John's.
